Progressive Report

Agro-Tech organization Society Uganda is registered Community Based Organization in Mukono District (Nabbaale Sub County). It is involved in Farming, Health and Education Development in rural areas.

A. ACHIEVEMENTS

COMPUTER PROGRAM.

We have been in operation for a period of 2 years since the registration and we have achieved an increased access to enterprise driven extension services. This has helped the rural people to have access to qualified technical extension services which in turn has lead to change their old styles of living. A need to train primary and secondary school teachers and A & O level leaver’s Computer skills was identified. Therefore, the organization requested Prime institute of applied Technology and Mass communication to provide the needed services.












Primary Students Training Computer Skills.

COVERED AREAS
Among the 22 schools which were visited for the program of computer training, 13 teachers have shown interest in the program. Areas that are covered include the following Bamusuuta Primary school,little Angels Nursery & Primary school, Nabalanga Church of Uganda Primary school, Gonve Umea Primary School, Kabulo Church of Uganda orphanage Primary School King David Memorial Colege secondary school, Nagalma secondary school, Ndese S.D.A day and boarding Primary School among others.

HEALTH PROGRAM

This started in May 2008 as one of the new programs. It is far has two parts already operating;

  1. Basic health service provision
  2. Health education


    3. It was also welcomed by the community.

CHALLENGES;

  1. Improper structure where the clients can be attended to.


  2. Very limited hospital sundries and basic drugs.


  3. Limited equipment used in examinations of patients.


  4. Poor transport system.


  5. False cultural and traditional beliefs towards hospital treatment.


FUTURE PLANS.

  1. In future we expect to have a very big hospital in place (at Ndese) and land for this is also already available.


  2. Have more voluntary health workers to join us in this aspect.


  3. Expand the heath education program to cover more villages.

AGRICULTURE PROGRAM:

Agriculture is yet other program being carried by the organization to improve the economic standards of the people in the rural areas of Mukono District.
In this program there has been,

COVERED AREAS

The following are the areas that have benefited in the programs Ndese S.D.A church,Nakaswa,Kasawo,Magwa,kalagi,Kiyagi,Kabembe,Nakifuma,Kabimbiri,Buwoya S.D.A church and Buwogoole S.D.A church among others.

CHALLENGES

The challenges facing the organisation include the following:

  1. Lack of Transport and communication system
  2. Lack of enough computers for training
  3. Unstable power supply
  4. Insufficient water supply during the dry season.

SOLUTIONS

For the case of insufficient water supply for the Nursery Bed during the dry season, the organisation has dug hole for 60000 water liter tank.This tank needs US Dollars 3000$ to be constructed. This will solve the problem of water supply.

CONCLUSION

Agro-Tech Organization Society in its endeavors, seeks for more partners, volunteers and all those organisations who would like to join us to strengthen its efforts and change the lives of people in rural areas.
